Should we offer the surgeon a break?

چکیده
To the Editor: Le Manach et al. present a study demonstrating the experimental applicability of changes in pulse pressure variation (dPPV) for the prediction of changes in cardiac output (dCO). The study is accompanied by a panegyric editorial answering the rhetorical question whether we need to monitor CO during surgery with a resounding NO! We now have dPPV!1,2 There is, however, a number of considerations to be made before this opinionist view is accepted— or rejected.

The study of dose gamma rays of 192Ir source on DNA single strand break (SSB) and DNA double strand break (DSB) in soft tissue phantom
Introduction: Passage of ionizing radiation through the organs of living creatures develops clusters of damaged nucleotides inside the DNA rounds. 192Ir Gamma source is one of the most widely used sources in brachytherapy of cervical and prostate cancer. Thus, in this research, we investigated the flux of photons and its resulting secondary electrons, the single-strand break (S...

متن کاملIntrapelvic Protrusion of a Broken Guide Wire Fragment during Fixation of a Femoral Neck Fracture
Breakage of DHS guide wire during surgery and its migration into the pelvis through the hip joint is a rare complication and its removal can be very challenging for the surgeon. We share our experience of a similar case wherein we used an ‘iliofemoral’ approach to successfully remove the broken transfixing guidewire from the hip joint. Although iliofemoral approach is similar to the lateral win...
متن کاملRadiation exposure during percutaneous nephrolithotomy; Is there a risk of the patient and the operating team?
Background: The aim of this study was to calculate the radiation amount exposed during percutaneous nephrolithototomy (PCNL) and to make the urologists and other staff sensitive about the radiation risk they were exposed to. Materials and Methods: We measured the radiation exposure during 114 cases of PCNL performed. Thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD) were placed between the operation table and...
